F.A.Q.

Frequently asked questions...and a few not so frequently asked...

Q. I have recently bought one your guitars second hand, can you give me the spec of the instrument and tell me everything about it...?

A. Since I’ve been in business for over 20 years now, there’s a fair few Bravewoods popping up on the second hand market. I haven’t kept records of past builds, maybe I should have looking back, too late now...Having made 100’s of guitars in that time, I cannot remember details of specifics builds...

Q. I have heard you are no longer accepting orders or building to commission...is that the case?

A. This is true...I am no longer accepting orders. I still build and offer guitars/basses via the ‘for sale’ page on the site as and when anything is available, but that’s it nowadays, no custom builds...

Q. There seems to be no phone number on the site...do you have one?, Or can I have your mobile number...?

A. I used to have a business line but I found the constant interruption of phone calls  could lead to mistakes being made. I therefore operate purely as a web based business now, all correspondence via email. I can answer those at my convenience, refer back to them and answer any questions more fully if research is needed...

Q. Do you offer all the custom colours...?

A. A fair few, but not all. I find some off the shelf custom colours to be wide of the mark, it’s not always possible to mix your own version of every colour ever offered...!

Q. I’m a web designer who also plays guitar...your site could be a lot better, I’m willing to design you a new site in exchange for a guitar...interested...?

A. You’d be amazed at how often I get asked this, I guess a lot of web designers play guitar. I’m aware the site is fairly basis, I maintain it myself and to say I’m not really into computers would be an understatement!, But...it gets the relevant info out there and keeps the price down for my paying customers...so, no thanks...

Q. I’m really interested in guitar building and would love to learn to do it. Would you be interested in taking on an apprentice?

A. Sorry, the workshop is pretty tiny, I usually end up tripping over myself. Bravewood Guitars is strictly a one man operation...

Q. I really like your aged pickguards, I would like to buy one for my guitar, how much are they...?

A. The aged pickguards I produce are completely hand made and take several hours of work to create. I really don’t have the time to produce pickguards as a separate item. In addition I like to keep a few things unique to my guitars...

Q. I would like to buy a replacement aged body/neck from you...how much are they...?

A. There is so much work in a hand made body and particularly a neck that I don’t have the time to produce them as separates...

Q. Can you age some guitar parts for me if I send them down...?

A. Sorry...not a service I offer...

Q. Can you relic my existing guitar...?

A. I do not ‘distress’ or ‘relic’ any other manufacturers products. The process I use starts from the bare wood up and therefore the authentic results you see on my guitars cannot be achieved on other finishes...it really wouldn’t work....
